Imagine a network of vegetable gardens strategically planted in our parks, schools, neighborhoods, vacant lots, and greenways. A garden might be used to teach math, science, nutrition, stewardship, and entrepreneurship; beautify our neighborhoods; build community; slow us down; rekindle our sense of wonder; reconnect us with the seasonality and flavor of real food; or level the playing field as to who can or can’t currently access “local” food.
